Not necessarily. You can still promote and sell the songs you make for yourself: E.S. Posthumous is a great example. Most of their work used for commercials was made ages before the product or movie it was used for even existed.
Can you recommend me any music similar to Test Pony?
Well it was supposed to be an emulation of General Mumble’s style, you could give his stuff a shot. Otherwise I really don’t know, it’s not a genre I dabble in much so I don’t have any influences for it.
Have you thought about promoting yourself as a composer? Portfolios and stuff. You can try to make music for commercials or do commissions.
I’ve thought about it a lot, and I realized that the main reason why I love writing music so much is because I get to make what I want. I have a strong feeling that if I promoted myself as a composer professionally, I’d get burned out of music from the jobs I’m given. I can’t take that sort of pressure musically, while with my art I can truck through nearly anything and still have the drive to make more art.
Hey man, I wanted to say thanks for showing that line video. I went to the Ctrl Paint site and it is extremely helpful. I'm planning on going through a bunch of their videos this summer. So ya, thanks!
You’re welcome! I was ecstatic when someone showed them to me. Glad I could help.
I think what needs to be clarified is what Paarthurnax means by “better”. Does he mean better for society as a whole or better as in what is a better example of a human (or whatever race you are in Skyrim)?
Contextually he’s referring to the individual, specifically himself. I think on a personal level, it is better to overcome your tendencies and conquer your weaknesses than to just be born ‘good.’
theropods said: One solution is peer-to-peer influence (aka talking about things). If you consider your right to not hear about the suffering of people less privileged than you to be more important than their right to not be oppressed, welp
A bit of context would help, I’m sure. I’m involved in an online community that I chat with daily. We’re close, we’re tight. This was directed at them. You’re coming in from an outside perspective and it’s hard to get it under the right context. I should have specified who exactly I was directing this to.
But I didn’t. And everything I say is now so easily being taken out of context.
The point I was hoping to make was that I am disinterested in talking about the subject as an atheist person typically is with religion. It’s been bugging me for a long time, and tumblr is a universal thing in my small community.
Sorry to make anyone mad, it appears I have poor timing with the recent North Carolina turnout.
It’s full of great, simple tutorials on improving your painting technique, your drawing skills, and just about everything you can think of.
It has a great organized archive, and even many tutorials on the basics of painting, drawing, and photoshop.
I’m going to go through this entire site by the end of summer, at least once through. Anyone who may be thinking of doing the same, you might enjoy our Artists Block skype chat. Let me know if you’d like to join!
